Would I be gaining a recognised qualification with the ACCA?
Yes, the ACCA is the largest professional accountancy body within the UK. At present the ACCA has more than 54,000 qualified members with another 120,000 working towards its range of qualifications. The qualification to be gained is not only very well respected within the UK, but also 130 countries.
I have no accounting experience, does this matter?
No, the ACCA - Accounting Technician examinations have always been left open for those with no previous accounting background. The only criteria the ACCA insist upon is that you are aged 16 or over.
Over the years I have gained various business & accounting qualifications, will the ACCA recognise these?
Yes, there are a range of qualifications that will gain you an exemption from certain levels, If you are eligible for any exemptions you will still be required to satisfy the necessary training requirements to fully complete the Accounting Technician qualification.
Do I need work experience?
As well as completing your examinations, you will have to gain relevant financial training. This has to be recorded in a Technical Training Record (TTR). You may obtain your practical work experience before, during, or after studying for the exams. Relevant experience may be gained in any business sector, e.g. industry, commerce, public sector, accounting practice, etc., and anywhere in the world.
What qualification will be gained on completion?
Once you have completed all three levels of examinations successfully, and satisfied the work experience requirements, you will be able to call yourself an ACCA Accounting Technician. You will also be able to use the designation CAT (Certified Accounting Technician) after your name.
My circumstances may not allow me to keep a regular study schedule, will this affect my examinations?
No, the Accounting Technician Qualification can be gained without limit of time. The ACCA recognise that due to family or work commitments, not everyone can set exact targets.
