The Institute of Certified Book-keepers was established to provide a series of professional qualifications that reflect the needs of business and the aspirations of people wanting to enter the profession. It exists to represent bookkeepers at all levels to promote the professionalism of bookkeepers to buisness, governement and the general public.
The Institute of Certified Book-keepers is the largest book-keeping institute in the world and we are now able to offer you full tuition toward their range of manual book-keeping examinations.
The Institute have three levels of Membership as you progress through your examinations, Affiliate, Associate & Full Member. Avenues to each level of Membership are as follows:
Affiliate Member
Level I Certificate in Manual Bookkeeping, Diploma in Payroll Management, or Diploma in Small Business Financial Control.
The payroll and small business courses are also ideal for continued professional development (CPD) and teach valuable skills to anyone looking to pursue a career as a bookkeeper.
Associate Member – Course Number ICB700
Level II certificate in Manual Bookkeeping & Level II Certificate in Computerised Bookkeeping
This is the minimum level of Membership required to enable you to practise as a bookkeeper, mainly for sole-trader companies, and it is essential to now have both manual & computerised qualifications.
Full Member – Course Number ICB800
Level III Diploma in Manual Bookkeeping & Level III Diploma in Computerised Bookkeeping
This level of qualification allows you to “keep books” for any type of organisation, such as, Partnerships, Limited Liability Companies, Clubs & Societies. It is a requirement to have both manual & computerised qualifications to attain this level of Membership

The objectives of the Institute are as follows:
- To promote book-keeping as a profession.
- To enable book-keeping to gain recognition as an integral part of the financial profession.
- To promote training in the principles of book-keeping.
- To develop personal study skills and improve confidence to those persons who undertake as course in book-keeping.
- To enable the achievement of a qualification, which may be used to enhance prospects of progression into higher levels of study.
- To improve the career prospects of its members.
