We recently celebrated our 40 years in business with a reception and dinner at the voco Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow. The event was attended by students past and present, tutors, examining bodies ICB and AAT, business associates and members of our staff team.

Some of those attending shared their thoughts on why college founder, Al Vanden Akker has been successful and why Ideal Schools has enjoyed 40 years in business.

At the event, as well as being congratulated on his achievements, Al announced he is stepping down from an active day-to-day role in the business. His long-term colleague and Director Brian McVean will take on the position of Managing Director. His son, Scot, will become the Chairman of the company. These changes at the top of the college will take effect from 1^st September 2023.

The new management team is excited to grow the college in the years to come while still retaining the student-centred approach so characteristic of Al’s way of working, where we take a genuine interest in every individual and do our utmost to help them succeed.
