Rasa D’Alton, who was born and educated in Lithuania, came to the UK in 2000. Today, nearly 20 years later, she is the proud and successful owner of Colchester-based Cloudit Bookkeeping Limited, as well as a wife and mother of two.

And, she readily admits, it was her training at Ideal Schools, the leading distance learning bookkeeping college, which played a big part in helping her on her way.

Rasa studied English in Lithuania and attended one of the country’s best universities, where she earned a Batchelor of Arts degree in Sociology. When she came to England she worked as PA for various company directors. But as well as having children, she always wanted to work for herself.

“I started the ICB course including payroll in 2007. It took a few years, and a couple of children, before I was fully qualified but that was a major advantage of the Ideal Schools approach. It let me study at my own pace and when it suited the rest of my life.

“I studied also the FRS105, Corporation tax and self-assessment courses. I obtained my license to practice in 2013 and went back to part-time study last year just to give me an edge in helping micro businesses and their tax matters.”

Today, Rasa provides cloud-based, flexible and cost-effective bookkeeping and payroll services to SMEs in the Colchester area of Essex and London. Her company’s mission is to help small business owners to become more profitable and have a peace of mind that their books are in good order. “Working alongside our clients”, she said, “we take away the burden of daily bookkeeping since our cloud-based approaches saves time and effort.”

Rasa’s business now has 36 clients and one employee. “Working with numbers was the right choice for me”, she said. And an important part of making a success of that choice was, she added, her experience with Ideal Schools.
