Mark Williams found he had a knack for
bookkeeping after volunteering to do the books for his local branch of the
British Legion, and developed a taste for the work. As a sales rep for an
agricultural business, he was looking for something to add to his skills, and
give him more control over his own career; consequently, he turned to Ideal
Schools.
Starting in March 2016, Mark passed the
Level 2 & 3 exams of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB), and is
currently sitting the Level 4 Advanced Bookkeeping, Self-Assessment, and Payroll qualifications, all
through Ideal Schools.
Mark said: “I chose Ideal Schools to
start my journey because they were the best I had found online. I tried another
few online colleges, and they were all high-pressure, pushy, and trying to talk
me into signing up to finance agreements.
“I called Ideal Schools, and spoke to
Brian McVean, one of its senior tutors, and he focused on what I wanted to
learn, and how he could help me. From then, I knew they were the college for
me. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone.
“They provided clear, easy to follow
materials, help and support at any time, even on the weekend, and all my
assessments marked in less than 24 hours. By far the best I’ve come across.”
Based in Raglan, South Wales, Mark was
eager to get started with the journey into bookkeeping, and soon discovered
there was a gap in the market. He built his own website, created a social media
presence, and in less than two months of operation, he had seven clients;
including a not-for-profit, limited companies, and sole traders.
Mark’s business, Choice Bookkeeping, has
gone from strength to strength, and is one of the fastest growing bookkeeping
businesses in the Monmouthshire area. He credits Ideal Schools with making the
material digestible and easy to understand, and his own dedication and hard
work in turning academic learning into a going concern.
Mark said: “I was a bit worried about
the idea of home study at first, because I’m dyslexic, but I was able to grasp
the work quickly and intuitively, and my confidence grew in leaps and bounds.”
